Our Last Show of the Year...

Are you ready?  The Christmas season is upon us, so too is our last show of the year.

We've been busy bees prepping the Shoppe, making sure it is abundantly stocked with great gift ideas for your visit.
Inspirational signs are always a favorite, we have scads of them!

How about some sweet smelling soap? They are great stocking stuffers, as are our sachets and candles.

Our clothing room is stacked to the rafters with beautiful Fall fashions, scarves, and tons of jewelry!
And, if you can never go wrong with one of these...
A LaurieAnna's gift card is the perfect gift for all!
Purchase online or in-store. Available in many $ increments.
The Shoppe will be closed on Thanksgiving so our crew can spend the day with their families, but we will open bright and early on Friday morning.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Until then, we would like to wish you and your families a very Happy Thanksgiving. We are very thankful for our customers and our crew.

Til next time...

St. Jude and Minden - Real treasures in humanity

The best things come in small packages, Minden Louisiana is one of those things.  Don’t let their small population of 13,000 people fool you.  Since 1976, the town of Minden has been raising money for St. Jude in the form of a 4-day auction that takes place each year on Super Bowl Weekend.   So, how much money can a town of 13,000 raise?  Incredibly, the 2014 auction hosted by this little town raised over $1,000,000.00 for St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  This gives Minden the distinction of raising more money per capita than any other city in the U.S.  What an amazing honor!

The distinction of the town’s efforts is certainly impressive, but how it all began will penetrate your heart.  It was 1976 when the family of Pete Treat, in conjunction with KASO Radio and many friends, decided to have a radio-a-thon.  Mr. Treat wanted to give back to St. Jude for all the loving care the hospital and its staff gave to treat his daughter, Ann, who sadly lost her battle to childhood leukemia.
St. Jude's loving care of little Ann Treat, along with so many other children from the community and its surrounding area, motivated the community to continue their important work for the hospital and stay the course.

Most people have heard of St. Jude, but not everyone knows just how far this hospital goes to help.  When a family is devastated with the news that their precious child has cancer (I cannot even imagine the heartbreak and fear), it is St. Jude that steps up to treat those children, but it goes so much further than that.  Aside from receiving the very best medical care and cancer treatments, the families are never charged a dime for the medical care, lodging, food, transportation, or for any treatment protocol that the child needs - St. Jude absorbs all of those costs for the family.  Isn't that amazing?   The costs to provide such an incredible gift to a family are enormously high.  In fact, currently, it costs around $2 Million a day to run the hospital and its affiliated programs.  Information that makes the efforts of Minden and others like it all the more precious.
Since the beginning of that  1976 radio-a-thon, which included offerings of homemade jellies and baked goods to raise $10,000, the town has become one of the best friends of St. Jude Hospital and the families that are treated there.  In addition to the 4 day auction, the annual Minden fund-raising event has exploded to include a State Wide Chili Cook-Off , a 5K/10K race, and a children's fun day, all part of a community collaboration with one mission….to raise money for St. Jude.

As the event has grown over the past 38 years, so have the donations - the gifts keep getting bigger and better.  Case in point, the upcoming  January auction boasts a grand prize consisting of either $50,000 in cash or a 2015 GMC Yukon Denali, winners choice! How about that for a grand prize?  Other cool raffle items include two “Shasta Canned Ham" campers, boats, deer blinds, the extensive list goes on and on, all donated by people that want to make a difference in the battle against cancer.
I will be sharing much more in future posts about this town, their fund-raising efforts, as well as our involvement in their efforts, and my own family's recent experience with cancer.  Meanwhile, although it is not up yet, bookmark their website which will come to life with fantastic auction items as we grow nearer to Super Bowl weekend. The auction will take place Jan 29th - Feb. 2nd, 2015 in Minden, La.
Hats off to the town of Minden, they are the standard by which all towns (and people) should be measured.  LaurieAnna’s is honored to be among this year’s very long list of St. Jude supporters.  Stay tuned for much more!

What a gift...

Our November show was truly amazing and a true gift from heaven. Thanks to you, it was our best show ever!
Every inch of the shoppe was bursting with bright smiling faces, laughter galore and customers carrying overflowing shopping baskets with loads sparkling holiday goodies.

This year, the show landed on Halloween. To our surprise, we had a few ghouls and goblins came to shop with us.
 "Two Witches in the Wardrobe"
Alinda Martin (Friendswood, TX) and Brenda Prestegard (Seabrook, TX) have been best friends for 38 years and have shopped in Canton for almost 20 years together. I love this!

We were also surprised when "Flo" showed up to help out at the sales counter.  This is none other than long time LA crew-member Letty. :-)

Once again, our clothing room won first prize for being the busiest section, but that's no surprise.
Just look at all the pretties...How can you not want one of each?

Thank you for shopping with LaurieAnna's and for giving us another amazing show. If you were unable to make this one, mark your calendar for our next one and come hang with us...November 27-30.
Christmas is just around the corner and will be here before you know it.  Don't forget to shop online 24/7 with LaurieAnnas.com and visit our holiday section. There's something for everyone...I promise!

We're stocked!

Where did this month go?  It's almost time for our next show and we've been busy stocking the shoppe....... seriously stocking!
My poor lil shoppe is bursting at the seams with tons of holiday goodies.

In fact...
Our clothing room is so stocked with wonderful fall fashions and jewelry that we are out of space!  How is it that we keep expanding and keep running out of space? :-)
I'm so smitten with our Fall line that my own closet is out of space too!  Lots of beautiful tops, print leggings, darling lace camis and scarves..... you can put together your entire fall/winter wardrobe right here, no kidding.
Word of advice though, come early to get the best selections, they will go quickly!

You did it again!

Our Fall Preview was over the top amazing!  All the long hours and hard work spent transforming the Shoppe for the holidays truly paid off - the success of the show exceeded our wildest dreams!

From stacks and stacks of colorful holiday paper, overflowing baskets of vintage inspired ornaments, and racks of clothing and jewelery galore, customers had an abundance of selections.
Crazy abundant!

Which was a good thing, because we sure had an abundant amount of shoppers!

It always warms my heart to hear how far customers travel to visit the Shoppe and this show had quite a few of those.

Meet Rowena Fengel of Temple, TX and friend of 20 years, Sheri Larkin of Santa Cruise, CA. Sheri stated several times to our crew that LaurieAnna's was her most favorite store in Texas. We sure enjoyed visiting with these delightful ladies.

Charlene Gray, a long time customer and fellow blogger, brought her friend Sandy Navarro (also from California) who was soooo excited to finally see the Shoppe.  And foreign exchange student sweet Anna Gorina, (all the way from Russia) thinks the story of our shoppe portrays the American dream of success.
How sweet is that?... :-)

I can't begin to express the love  that we feel from each and everyone of you and how blessed we are.  We are extremely fortunate to have such faithful customers that appreciate the store and our crew that works so hard.
You are the reason for everything we do, and we thank you!

If you were unable to attend the last show, tuck in that lower lip and mark your calendar.  The next show takes place on Oct 30 - Nov 2nd, we hope you can join us!

It will be here before you know it, which means I better get busy stocking and fluffing.  We'll be ready for you!
